High capacity heat pumps

OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps

For large-scale use.

OCHSNER has been developing, designing and manufacturing heat pumps for large scale use for many years. In industrial plants, data centres, residential complexes and many other large properties, customers trust in the reliable supply of heating and/or cooling energy from OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps. Downtimes here mean more than just a cold apartment.

OCHSNER is aware of this responsibility and is consequently uncompromising in its approach to quality assurance and factory acceptance. Our high capacity heat pumps only ever leave the factory after exhaustive functional testing, ready to reliably carry out their work for many years to come.

Products overview

Maximum temperature IWWDS

170 - 750 kW

The system operates up to 130°C with a power range of 170 to 750 kW, suitable for process technology, district heating, and steam generation. It utilises water from process heat or heat recovery as the heat source. The high-efficiency semi-hermetic compact screw compressors are designed for low vibration and wear-free operation, with adjustable control for 50%, 75%, or continuous output. Forced lubrication ensures long-term, maintenance-free performance, while a mechanical pressure equalization aids start-up. The system features robust shell-and-tube heat exchangers for reliability and longevity, and a high-performance cooling circuit with single or two-stage refrigeration. The Megatronic microprocessor control system with a 10" touch panel provides real-time monitoring, remote maintenance, and alarm displays for easy operation.

High temperature IWWHS

60 - 850 kW

The system operates up to 95°C with a power range of 60 to 850 kW, ideal for process technology and district heating networks. It uses water from process heat or heat recovery as a source and offers a one- or two-stage refrigeration circuit. Highly efficient semi-hermetic screw compressors ensure low vibration, wear-free operation, and continuous use with slide control options. The robust shell-and-tube heat exchangers maximize service life and reliability. The MEGATRONIC control system with a 10" touch panel provides real-time monitoring and remote maintenance, ensuring smooth operation and quick response to alarms.

High temperature compact IWWHC

30 - 130 kW

The system operates up to 82°C with a power range of 30 to 130 kW, and can be cascaded as needed. It handles high source temperatures between 10°C and 42°C, using water or brine as heat sources, and features a space-saving compact design with a high-temperature scroll compressor. Special heat exchangers and advanced fluid control ensure maximum efficiency and energy savings across a wide temperature range. The OCHSNER MEGATRONIC control system optimises internal processes and peripheral devices for peak efficiency. Popular in industrial modernisation projects, the system is ideal for applications such as heat recovery in hotels, food production, and CHP plants, as well as hot water production in clinics and retirement homes.

Medium temperature IWWS & ISWS

110 - 1100 kW

The system operates with a working fluid temperature of up to 75°C and a power range of 110 kW to 1.1 MW, which can be scaled up to 2.2 MW in a TWIN-unit configuration. Designed for maximum durability, it features semi-hermetic screw compressors and robust shell-and-tube heat exchangers to ensure operational safety in large-scale settings. The OCHSNER OECC injection technology and MEGATRONIC control system optimize performance, offering a 10" touch display for real-time monitoring and seamless integration with building management systems. Ideal for large-volume buildings such as hospitals, office complexes, and production halls, the series is versatile enough to harness diverse heat sources ranging from geothermal energy to industrial waste heat.

High-capacity heat pump benefits

Broad application range

The applications of OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps are many and diverse. They can be used for heating, air conditioning and supplying DHW in large buildings. Typical examples include multi-storey buildings, hotels and restaurants, clinics, institutions and educational facilities, as well as office, commercial and retail buildings. Process heat from industry can be used, and even temperatures of up to 120°C are possible. When integrated into heating networks, OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps raise the temperature level and increase efficiency.

Broad spectrum of heat sources

OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps can use a variety of other heat sources in addition to those commonly used, i.e. air, ground or groundwater. It is possible to recover heat from industrial processes, or waste heat from computers or data centres, which is currently often conducted away and not utilised. Usable heat is also often channelled away from the kitchens or wellness facilities of large hotels. In municipal infrastructures, the sewer system plays an important role as a heat source due to the waste heat produced by sewage.

Economically and ecologically sound

Alongside economic viability, many companies place environmental responsibility and climate protection very high on their agenda. OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps can be highly instrumental in achieving tangible improvements in both these spheres. With their high performance and efficiency, they cut energy costs while at the same time significantly reducing CO2 emissions. Disposing of heat from industrial processes and other sources and conducting it away is currently an expensive process in many cases.

Innovative, open-system control technology

The electronic MEGATRONIC controllers of OCHSNER high capacity heat pumps are state of the art. They control and monitor the heat pump and record all the relevant values in real time. Periphery control allows the control of circulation pumps and valves as well as buffer management, switching of heating, and active and passive cooling. Clear displays and logging of measured values provide the user with valuable information. Integration in a building management system is supported, as well as remote monitoring via LAN or the internet.
